Who will you look like, How will you be? Will you look like Kayden, Daddy or me? Ten little fingers and ten little toes, A wrinkled up forehead and a cute button nose. You will be crying with that first cold touch, And so will we because we love you so much…

~Karsyn’s Birth Story…

Today during school around 3:30p.m., I started feeling really weird and my stomach was hurting and starting to cramp…I stayed at school until almost 5:00p.m. getting things ready because tomorrow was a professional development day and by the way I was feeling I didn’t think that I would make it until Monday, so I thought I should get everything ready.  I called Kevin on the way to get Kayden from preschool to let him know I wasn’t feeling so well, and he said that he would go and get something for us to eat and that all I needed to do tonight was relax and put my feet up.  I got home and ate dinner and my stomach was now starting to contract.  I have been having contractions for the last couple of weeks now, but these contractions we much more often and felt more intense.  Around 8:00p.m. I was starting to feel a little better and the contractions weren’t as frequent, so I told Kevin that I was going to bed, then around 11:00p.m. I woke up and my stomach was contracting like crazy, I woke Kevin up and said that I think we need to go to the hospital.  Kevin timed my contractions and they were about a minute apart.  Kevin called Mimi and Popo, we woke Kayden up and put all my bags in the car.  We met Mimi and Popo up the street and then Kevin hauled booty, driving with his hazards on all the way to the hospital.  We got to the hospital around 11:45p.m. and had to go through the ER because it was after hours.  They wheeled me upstairs to Labor and Deliver and the nurse wanted to check me out before admitting me.  I told her that my contractions were about a minute apart and that on Tuesday I was 3 cm and as I’m telling her this I have another contraction and seeing how intense they are she decides to get the ball rolling and gets me into a gown and into a room.  She then checks me and I’m almost at 7cm. (Yikes, I’m glad I woke up and decided to go to the hospital)  I express to Rhonda (my wonderful nurse) that I would like a epidural ASAP and she then calls in 2 other nurses and they work super fast to get all my paperwork filled out, get my fluids going in my IV, and blood work done.  They were all GREAT and got me hooked up with the drugs in no time, and  boy was I in heaven.  It’s now about 1:00a.m. and Rhonda says that I’m now at around 9cm but my water still hasn’t broke so just give it time and we will see what happens.  Every 30 minutes she would come in and check me and I was making progress but she couldn’t get my water to break.  Then finally my water broke and the next thing you know Dr. Kindrick (Dr. Cope wasn’t on call so her partner in the practice Dr. Kindrick, who just happens to be an Aggie delivered Karsyn )was called and I was ready to push.  I pushed for about 15 minutes and the next thing you know I was holding my precious little girl in my arms at 4:55a.m.  My eyes filled with tears and my heart filled with love.  She was perfect :)  Immediately after Karsyn was born Daddy called Mimi and Popo and they come up with Kayden.

Kayden was so excited about meeting her baby sister.  When we woke her up at 11:00 that night we told her that Mommy and Daddy were going to the hospital to have Karsyn and her little face lit up.  Mimi said that after they got to the house Kayden was so excited that she couldn’t go back to sleep and that she wanted to get out of her p.j.s and put her clothes on so that she would be ready to meet her sister…

One of the many things that I love about Kevin is his passionate heart.  He’s not afraid to cry and share his feelings when it comes to his family.(or like he says “his girls” ) Right after Karsyn was born seeing him cry brought even more happiness into my heart.

God has blessed us once again with a perfect baby girl and just when I thought my heart couldn’t hold any more love, it has found room for yet another person to love…I’m so happy that Karsyn is here and now our family of 4 is complete…

After reading your post I had tears of joy for you and your family. It made me think back 19 months ago and going through all of that same joy with Isabella! :0)
