It’s so true when people say that every child is different…When Kayden was 3 months old I started putting oatmeal in her bottle because Dr. Leffel recommend we try that because Kayden was spitting up so much after each feeding that putting that in her bottle would help keep her food down and boy did that do the trick. Karsyn rarely spits up so I didn’t have to worry about adding it to her bottle. So one day I was reading my Parent magazine and happen to read an article about starting cereal and the article said there were 3 easy steps to see if your child was ready for cereal and here are the 3 steps…
1. your child is between 4 and 6 months old…
2. your child has good control of their head…
3. does your child watch you and act curious while seeing you eat…
Well, Karsyn will be 4 months very shortly and she has great control of her head and as far as watching us eat, yes she is very interested and when she sits at the table with us in her bouncy seat she stares at our every move. I was going to wait to start Karsyn on cereal after we went to see Dr. Leffel for her 4 month check up but the more I thought about it and the more I talked to MawMaw we decided to just try it…
Aunt Theresa gave Karsyn her first bite of Oatmeal and Karsyn loved it and started opening up her mouth like a pro and wanted more…I think we created a monster…I started Karsyn on oatmeal instead of rice cereal because I remember Dr. Leffel telling me with Kayden that oatmeal is easier for babies to digest than rice and honestly I think oatmeal probably taste better…
The 2nd night when MawMaw feed Karsyn her oatmeal she was opening up her mouth so big you would have thought she had been eating for months…I guess we have lots to tell Dr. Leffel at her check-up. Maybe Dr. Leffel will say that we can start adding some fruit to the oatmeal…yum, yum, yum…
Big sister Kayden feeding her little sister Karsyn…
